Update: 2019-04-12
Exciting News.

Ablegrid domestic sim card family has At&t now.
so Ablegrid has both native Tmobile sim card and At&t sim card.
both sim card support 3G 4G LTE and latest LTE-M, CAT-M, NB.

if you use the sim for LTE-M, CAT-M, NB
your device must be certified

we also have multi-carrier M2M LTE-M, NB sim cards , so you can use it globally also it can use Verizon, ATT, Tmobile network in USA.

our sim cards never expire, you can de-activate or re-activate it anytime.

Ablegrid will proudly launch the new LTE-M CAT-M NB certified device in this May. Ablegrid tested the device and it has unbelievable power saving performance and signal coverage area.
with our global multi-carrier sim cards, it can use AT&T, Verizon,T-Mobile 's network when one of those carrier's network coverage fails.

For Ablegrid M2M newest LTE-M NB trackers, it can only use Ablegrid sim cards, you can not buy other simcards from the ATT Verizon or Tmobile retailer store or any other stores since it uses totally different sim card than the traditional cell phone sim card.

lots of customers sent us the emails regarding the sim cards they bought.

in order to understand what kind of sim card you need to buy , you need first get to know how the gps tracker works .

how gps tracker works:

gps tracker need at least three satellite signals to get the position, when the tracker is turned on, if it is in open air area, it will always ready to read the position.

so we want to know where is the tracker, that is the reason we have our sim card from the phone company, it will use phone company cellular network to send the location to our own cellphone by text message or send the location data to our server so you can use app or web based tracking platform to display the location on the map .

some gps trackers use only phone company cellular network's signals to locate the tracker, but it is not very accurate, it is only give you few hundred meters range, by using GPS satellite signal receivers in our trackers, the position will be most accurate within few meters.

there is TWO ways to track your gps tracker :

Option 1: SMS Text
when you want to get the tracker's location, just text the tracker's sim card phone number from your cellphone number. eg, ping the gps tracker.

the gps tracker will response to you after few seconds with the google map url link to you by text , and you can click the link and get the location on the google map.

if you only choose this mode, you can just buy prepaid GSM sim card from att or tmobile or any gsm sim card provider.
you don't need to buy data plan, only voice and text plan.

or you can buy the sim card from us directly here

start from $9 will last 30 days or buy 3 months to get more discounts.
you can activate our sim card at gps.ablegrid.com

currently, some tracker platforms fool you and charge you over $40 / month for whatever called 20 seconds interval upload the location,
our tracker can always upload the location 20 seconds with our basic data plan sim card as less as $12/month, and big discount when prepaying more months, but we strongly suggest you use SMS mode and this will maximum the standby time and also there is not all areas have T-Mobile 2G service. paying $40 /month is just crazy.

SMS is least expensive way to trace the tracker.

Option 2: Live tracking

at this mode, you can use app or website based platform to live tracing the gps tracker.
since at this mode, the gps tracker need to send the location data continuously to our server, you need pickup the data plan from the phone company for your sim card.

the way to send data at the phone company use network technology, as we heard before such as 2G , 3G , 4G ,LTE .

meanwhile, most of gps trackers only support 2G.
in usa , phone company AT&T discontinued the 2G network in 2017. so you can not buy att sim card if you want to use this option.
all you need to do is buy tmobile or just ask the provider if they are GSM phone company and provide 2g service.

all of our gps trackers support 2G.

and our TK207 support 2G and 3G , so you can buy att sim card for our TK207 gps tracker .

in order to make the gps tracker battery last longer, you can setup the gps location upload time interval, for example, setting up every 20 seconds to upload a location data to our server will make our TK102 last around 16 hours (depends on the phone network signal quality )
while setting up every 1 hour to upload the location data will make our tk102 last few days.

and our GT series have the longest standby time ever, it last few months even one year if you choose the SMS mode ( tested under the optimized network signal)

here is simple text command for TK serial gps tracker ( TK 102 201 108 206 207 208 310 106 107 models)

once you get the tracker,

insert the sim card

type exactly the command , without space , from your phone to the gps trackers sim card #

make sure sim card is ok, it is gsm

text begin123456
should response begin ok
text sms123456
should response sms ok

call the gps tracker sim card
wait for few seconds, but less than 1 minute
you should get the location text back to your phone

now you can try to setup your admin phone number and date time ,etc.
where 123456 is the default password for gps tracker, you can setup yours

if you want to live track at our website and app,

you must make sure sim card with a data plan
and
text begin123456
response begin ok
text gprs123456
response gprs ok
text t020***n123456
response t020***n ok

text adminip123456 204.44.74.2 12024
response adminip ok

mostly you don't need to setup any apn
if you do need to setup apn ,

text apn123456 tmobile (tmobile is apn name, which your phone company will tell you ) , for tmobile sim card, no need to setup any apn

thanks

How can I get information on the GT series? I would like longer standby time. The car is often times in use and gone when the battery dies on me which causes me to be out of luck.
